The Mitcham Bungalow – Addition

The Mitcham Bungalow was completely original and untouched since the 50’s, which is unsuited for today’s family lifestyle.

The client needed more bedrooms for his children, and he wanted a large open plan living area without compromising the original architecture.

Taking inspiration from this I created an addition which used the exact same 2nd hand bricks the original house was built with, with the typical California Bungalow Verandah at the rear of the house. Creating an elevation so perfect it could comfortably face the street and be the front of the house.

To the untrained eye, the Mitcham house will look completely original from front to rear.
